P O N O R

blogroll

There’s some amazingly interesting blogs out there…Here’s a start on an eclectic list, in no particular order:

Pistachio, Laura’s Blog – She’s Pistachio, because her first office walls were just that colour. These days
Laura’s a well known figure around Web 2.0 She’s a Twitter fantast, Twitter is her village :) but she doesn’t talk
more than the men do, actually :) She’s the personification of: Hey, why not? and… Let’s start right now. Oh yeah…
and MICROSHARING! – that’s what it’s all about. Go catch some of the rays at her place.

Absent without leave – art etc -  is a stunner of a blog by artist Ivan Pope. What you get is 5 years of his thoughts
about artistic practice and the business of communicating via visual imagery. He talks about his personal
journey as well as his reactions to contemporary exhibitions and other reviewers ideas. It’s a great archive
and also has links to Ivan’s ongoing work(s). He says what he thinks about how art functions today, or not, as
the case may be. What more could you possibly want?…Blood?….:)!

overenweer.wordpress.com – two dutch guys and a camera, or possibly 2 guys and 2 cameras. Visual/image
blog in Dutch and English… Sometimes hilarious, sometimes bizarre…always interesting.

kattk.org – Jonas Anderson: Swedish blogger, he blogs about just about everything, but
often about the blogosphere and IT in general. He also blogs at bloggtidningen.se and in
English here: fakebrit.blogspot.com

charlietruck.blogspot.com
– writes great copy, mostly in Swedish but sometimes in English
or even in French; she lives in Paris. Charlie is anonymous. Who is she..?
We might guess :) but until and unless she wishes it otherwise: so be it. Postscript:
Charlie’s moved – to New York!

objsam.wordpress.com – Syed Aslam’s blog. This guy’s a coder :) at the moment based in Bangalore,
and who works mostly on Java related technologies. (Update: now also with Ruby and Rails.) His blog
is full of interesting stuff.

gapingvoid.com – this one’s so bloody far from a “gaping void” that I think that he might
just be having us on – Mr. Midas you do have the touch :) Very funny, very astute.
Read and learn!

kullin.net – Swedish PR consultant Hans Kullin’s blog – media and public relations with a
Swedish twist. He’s one of the good guys. In English.

scripting.com – Well you couldn’t NOT include him in your blogroll – David Winer 53, and
pioneer of the development of weblogs. N.B. This blog is not as “techie” as you might
imagine – even I understand some of what he’s talking about :) so If you don’t already
know him, give it a go.

mute.rigent.com – A photographer, a camera and a blog. This man’s a complete natural
…his photographs are slices of the real thing. About the man behind the lens? He’s
called Miles. Miles says he just likes taking photographs – it shows.

alexmachacek.com - Austrian guitar maverick – now living in L.A. Classically trained, he
moved apparently seamlessly towards jazz…To me he’s like a complete soundwall – His
influences come from musicians like Pat Metheny and Frank Zappa. Steve Lawson – UK bassist
says of him “…scary guitar – bartok crossed w/ Zappa and Holdsworth…” I couldn’t agree more:)

stevelawson.net/wordpress/ – This guy is a lyrical bassist. He uses a sort of ambient looping
technique – I’m not a musician so I don’t really know quite how to describe it – but the result
is a sound scape of incredible beauty and complexity. His site has a wonderful set of music
links and a discussion forum… go there, listen, enjoy and support him. :)

Something a bit different: two blogs for those of you who read Swedish:

justew.wordpress.com A young Swedish woman living in the north of the country writes about life
with her young daughter. Focussed, very funny at times and always heartbreakingly honest…A joy!
If you read Swedish visit her.

stiftet.wordpress.com – This guy’s Swedish too but he lives in Norway. His blog’s about a little
figure called “Emo”. Even if you don’t read Swedish go and have a look. He illustrates the
onging saga of Emo with really accomplished drawings/paintings. He’s that rare thing:
a natural draughtsman. Highly recommended!

artbizness.wordpress.com Here’s another blogger I like a lot. He appears to be a bit of a poly-
math. He’s a an artist, a poet, a musician, a great social commentator with a wicked sense of
humour, a floor layer, (he’s got a thing about bathrooms), and not least, father of two and
supportive friend to the many… What more could you want mate :) His blog’s a wonderful mix!

ponor.profy.com – this is where I post things created: made/painted/sculpted/danced
/played/acted/filmed etc. by other people – there’s wasn’t room on my main blogs so I made
this one especially so I could post stuff that I find inspiring somewhere altogether and
in one place. ( NB. Profy.com is currently being updated but will be back soon.)

lobelia.net/wordpressblog – Q: What to do if you’re not someone’s idea of gorgeous? (Never mind
that you have the voice and the talent.) And if the someones’ in question run the show? A: You work
damned hard and fix the show yourself.(Not that Lobelia isn’t – gorgeous that is. She is.) Her blog’s
a combustible mix of straight talking and in-depth questioning. She’s all these things: Songwriter/
music producer/engineer/studio musician, PR person and label owner… presently performing with
Steve Lawson on bass.. Terrific stuff!

White Cube – Not a blog, this one, but included here because it’s (arguably) the UK’s no.1. gallery
for those interested in art/artistic practice. Very London centric of me no doubt, but sadly there
are no equivalents around my neck of the woods.

I hate mornings.com – Ben Walker aka: I hate mornings. This guy’s just got a bit famous in the blogosphere
- great for all of us because he’s a highly talented musician/songwriter.   Based in Oxford, he’s also a
natural lyricist and acoustic performer – something like: a bit of 70′s Bonzo Dog meets Mr. Orwell in
an English field…?…. :) Probably not :) Anyway, you decide. His blog at his .com, is abs. Web2.0 in that
he wants more than anything is to communicate and share ideas with you. Go there and enjoy
- esp. if you tweet,  ermm? or should that be if you don’t tweet? :)

bright stupid confetti.blogspot.com – Here’s another one of those undefinable creatures :) Bright stupid confetti as
“Declined” from the laboratory of Christopher Higgs This is a beguiling collection, all in the careful
hands of one very large gorilla
. (The Gorilla escaped?) Go here to be awakened from your slumbers……:)
Also: follow links to his prose, poetry and film work.

a journey round my skull.blogspot.com – I’ll just let Will describe his blog himself “… Unhealthy book fetishism
from a reader, collector, and amateur historian of forgotten literature…” If you want somewhere
to be refreshed here’s the place to go. Will’s blog is full of book titles, pictures and illustrations – he
has an artist’s eye, so everything is visually interesting – a true
bibliophile with a fascination for the eccentric; love it.

matt stevens guitar.blogspot.com – Putting it succinctly, Matt’s own byline does it better than I ever could,
“…Banging, Looping. Tranquil, Dissonant, Noisy, Quiet, Acoustic Guitar 2.0!..”
Go and listen at his place – His new Album’s out soon too. Brilliant!

more blogs later…….
